Put the Campaign on Hold; Meg Whitman Has Jury Duty

California Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman took an unintended break from campaigning to report to jury duty in Northern California.

Whitman spokeswoman Sarah Pompei says Whitman reported Monday to the Hall of Justice and Records in Redwood City, Calif., the San Jose Mercury News reported:

As is customary, a judge asked the (Whitman) -- along with dozens of other potential jurors -- whether there was anything he should know about her that would have an impact on a trial.

Yes, the woman replied: She was currently running for governor.

Pompei says Whitman enjoyed meeting her fellow potential jurors but looks forward to returning to the campaign trail. She said she did not know whether this was the first time Whitman has been called for jury duty.

A campaign official says Whitman was not selected for a jury but might be called back Thursday.
