Malibu Marathon Set for Nov. 15

The inaugural Malibu International Marathon & Half Marathon will be run Nov. 15, the city announced Wednesday.

The Malibu City Council voted unanimously on Sept. 14 to allow Forever Runners LLC to operate the marathon, according to a city statement released Wednesday morning.

The runners will begin their 26.2-mile journey at the Camarillo Airport at 7 a.m. and run through the flat farmlands of Ventura County before completing the race along Pacific Coast Highway, the statement said. The Half Marathon is the last half of the marathon course.

The finish line will be at Zuma Beach, where race organizers will give away beach towers and runners will be welcome to dash straight into the ocean.

Forever Runners is a local group of marathon enthusiasts in Malibu.

"Between the five directors, they have run in over 400 marathons across the country and world," according to the city statement.

The city will receive $10 per marathon entrant and use the money to benefit its clean water programs.

Registration is available online. Current registration prices for the event are $125 for the marathon and $80 for the half marathon.
