Guest Editor Gift Picks: Raul Rojas

Fork in the Road Foods
We all have them in our life. Friends who are vegan and vegetarian who can sometimes be challenging to shop for. Especially for the gift basket of cookies or other desert treats.  "Fork In The Road Foods" has you covered. The cookies are certified vegan and are dairy, egg and cholesterol free. These are yummy and flavorful contrary to what one first thinks of when it comes to vegan cookies. Founder Michelle Della Penna grew up cooking Italian food and early in her culinary career became a vegetarian. She began adapting recipes reflecting that shift. Bags of cookies start at $7.00

Atomic Cafe LA
This neighborhood cafe will be where participants from "The Great LA Walk" taking place this Saturday organized by Franklin Avenue blogger Michael Schneider.  The whole group will be having lunch in during their walk from downtown to Venice.  Any place with that claims to have an "Off the Hook Tuna Sandwich," is something you are definitely going to want!  And especially for all the LA aspiring writers there are plenty of outlets everywhere.  Breakfast sandwiches are a deal in the $3.50-$5 range with free coffee until 11am.

James Burgess' "I Am Not a Paper Cup" Ceramic Mug
We are all trying to do our part to go green  Finally, a coffee cup with all the freewheelin' immediacy of this fast food nation, but without the guilt of filling precious landfills. "I am not a paper cup!" declares this simple, reusable drinking container. No you are not, we agree. You are a double-walled porcelain cup with silicone top. Dishwasher safe.  This mug is sure to have more than one person to ask where you got it.  It is on sale for $18.00 on the site.

Load-Ding Device Organizer
So simple it leaves one thinking "why didn't i think of that!" I've seen plenty over-designed so-called solutions for keeping your chargers and devices organized, neat and off the floor. But this one seems to be is the smartest of the bunch. The site describes it as a flat piece of white plastic, flocked on the inside--in black, red or pink--forms a "tray" that cradles an iPod, blackberry, camera or watever device and keeps it safe.  Also comes with a diagram for those of us who aren't good at Origami. I seems like it would take a little getting used to, but worth it to save your device from getting kicked or stepped on. Above all it seems to be supremely practical. It is priced at $15.00 on the site.
