General Motors showed off a new hybrid Hummer, which promises to get 100-miles per gallon of gas.
This prototype demonstration model was unveiled this week in Detroit. Raser Technologies helped transform the Hummer H-3 into a hybrid, which it says has a range of about 400 miles - driving its first 40 miles exclusively on batteries before turning on its combustion generator.
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, one of the world's most famous Hummer owners, was there to celebrate the new hybrid.
When can you take the new Hummer for a test drive? That depends - if a deal is signed to manufacture the hybrid, it could be available to the public as early as 2011. Raser Technologies tells us the hybrid transformation might add $10,000-$15,000 to the cost of the vehicle.
