Six Degrees of Nice: Bacon Brothers Rock, Help

Kevin and Michael Bacon, brothers and rockers, have been taking to various stages for several years now, jamming, singing, pleasin' the fans. That one of the brothers happens to be a movie star has certainly attracted attention to the duo, but the fraternal musicians have held their own with solid rocking and sing-alongable songs.

Now the Bros. Bacon are hitting the Hard Rock at Universal CityWalk on Thursday, March 26, to raise awareness and money for Musicians on Call, an organization that sends tunes, both live and recorded, into hospitals. Fantastic, especially when time, experience, and studies have shown that stress drops when we're relaxing to balladry that takes the edge off. The Hard Rock, in fact, is staging Musicians on Call benefits across the country, and the Bacons are handling the LA gig on the 26th. Nice all around.

And while we pause here to salute both brothers for their musical prowess and their big hearts for giving back, we also want to give a particular film of Kevin Bacon's a shout-out. We can, and have, talked about the movie "Tremors" at length, even when no one in the room has brought it up. It is truly one of the great Saturday matinee movies of all time, so imagine our surprise when we came across a museum right here in California with a huge, straight-from-"Tremors" Graboid prop on display. If you're a fan of the movie and/or Mr. Bacon's work, get there at once. Drive straight to Lone Pine after the concert at CityWalk, or maybe over some weekend. It's worth it.
