“Truth” Screens for Free

Two free Oscar winners play at the Academy's Vine theater.

Earth Day is very much in the headlines, thanks to it being just around the corner. But April is also Earth Month, which makes it the perfect time for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to screen "An Inconvenient Truth," the film from about four years back that looked at our home and what's happening to it.

And what we can do. The Davis Guggenheim-directed film, which famously features Al Gore, will screen for free at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Vine location on Monday, April 12. It's the second of two docs being screened that night; "The Blood of Yingzhou District" will be presented before "An Inconvenient Truth."

Both films are from 2006 and both won Academy Awards. And both films will have producer presence at the screenings; "Yingzhou" producer Thomas Lennon and "Truth" co-producer Lesley Chilcott will stop by to discuss.

If you want to see all the Oscar-winning documentaries the Academy is screening on Mondays through May 3, eye the list here.
