What You're Doing Tonight: Dec. 9

FIZZY FETE: We adore Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Grocery -- we could stand and gape with pleasure at the frou-frou mustard shelf for a good 20 minutes -- but the French libations are the draw at this corner store, and the usual Tuesday night wine tasting class is switching to champagne for the holidays. Sips sparklers and find the ideal bottle for the boss, mom, or both (or, if your boss is your mom, you've lucked out). Tuesday, December 9, 6:30-8PM. $40. Monseiur Marcel at Farmers Market, 6333 W. Third Street, Los Angeles. 323-932-6854

A TUNE-FILLED TALK WITH MR. SPOCK: Leonard Nimoy chats up Josh Kun at the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Topic? Kun's book "And You Shall Know Us By the Trail of Our Vinyl: The Jewish Past as Told by the Records We Have Loved and Lost." We were just listening to Mr. Nimoy's famous album -- the one with the ode to "Bilbo Baggins" on it -- the other day. That is a grand LP, and we're sure the chat will be illuminating indeed. Tuesday, December 9, 7:30PM. Free. Santa Monica Museum of Art, 2525 Michigan Avenue, Santa Monica.
