7/3: Viver Brasil, “Betty Blue,” Cirque Berzerk, Bedtime Burlesque

VIVER BRASIL: Brazilian rhythms, steps, and song, as well as the traditions of Salvador and Bahia, frolic at the Ford Amphitheatre for one night. The Los Angeles-based dance collective spotlights Afro-Brazilians stories told through movement and sound; we long to take one of the group's Friday or Tuesday night classes. 8:30PM

"BETTY BLUE" DIRECTOR'S CUT: Some call it one of le ultimate French movies of the last half century. Some, the ultimate film. A ravishing, sexy, art-house wonder that should have gone wider, but perhaps it still may; the 1986 flick is being screened alongside an appearance by director Jean-Jacques Beineix at the Nuart at 8PM (on July 4th as well).

MORE ADULT PLEASURES: Cirque Berzerk, that mystical, strange, mustache-twirly big-top of wonders and weirdness, continues its madcap reign downtown; and Bedtime Burlesque celebrates the classic fairy tale -- for grown-ups, of course -- at Tres Stage Theatre.
