6/17: Million Dollar Theatre, Jonah Ray

MILLION DOLLAR THEATRE NIGHT: It's the one remaining Last Remaining Seats evening that hasn't yet sold out. The movie is "Macunaima" -- a high-spirited Brazilian romp from 1969 -- and the theater is the Million Dollar. If you haven't seen the inside of this opened-in-1918 Sid Grauman wonder, tonight is the night. 7PM doors

JONAH RAY'S BARBEQUAY: It's talk-show-y, it has comedy, it has surprises, it is happening every third Wednesday from now until who can say. Just ask yourself this: can you handle it? We think you can. Steve Allen Theater, 8PM

"STRANGERS ON A TRAIN": We kind of sort of maybe sometimes check in with the IMDB top 250 list, not that we're ruled by lists. But we can be. We are. This Hitchcock thriller is solidly in the middle of the 250. Speaks volumes; it is that edge-of-the-seat-ish. The big screen can only add to it. New Beverly Cinema, 7:30PM (followed by "Suspicion")
