17-Year-Old Boy Arrested in Shooting Death of Other Teen in San Jacinto

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in the shooting death of another teen in San Jacinto on Thursday, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies responding to a report of a shooting in the 1600 block of South Santa Fe Avenue found the victim dead from an apparent gunshot wound just after 1:13 p.m., according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies searched the surrounding area and found no other victims.

The 17-year-old, a San Jacinto resident, was detained for questioning and later arrested in connection with the slaying, deputies said.

The victim was also 17 years old, deputies said. His identity was not released because his family had not been notified.

A motive for the shooting was unclear.
