A year-old boy drowned Thursday in North Hollywood while with his mother at a dance studio.
The death was reported about 11:15 a.m. in the 12000 block of Saticoy Street, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, according to Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The woman brought her child with her to a Zumba class, police said.
The mother put her child down while speaking with someone when the boy crawled into a bucket of water left out by an employee, police said.
The boy was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Madison said.
Authorities were going to speak to the mother about possible negligence but police said it appears the boy's death was a "tragic accident."
