A pedestrian died after being struck by an on-duty CHP motorcycle officer in Long Beach Sunday morning, authorities said.
The crash happened on Del Amo Boulevard near Cherry Avenue around 5 a.m., authorities said.
The officer, identified by CHP as Alfredo Gutierrez of Lakewood, was driving on Del Amo Boulevard when he hit the pedestrian who was in the road, police said.
The pedestrian, identified by CHP as Cezanine Mount of Long Beach, died at the scene. The officer was taken to the hospital for injuries, according to police.
