Eastbound Lanes of 118 Freeway Reopened Following Brush Fire in Ventura County

The eastbound lanes of the 118 Freeway between Yosemite and Rocky Peak were closed Tuesday afternoon due to a brush fire in Ventura County.

The Ventura County Fire Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department were battling two small brush fires near Rocky Peak shortly after 3 p.m. 

Smoke was visible from 5 miles out, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. 

All lanes of the eastbound 118 were temporarily closed by the California Highway Patrol around 3:40 p.m. while officials battled the blaze. 

The fire was 100 percent contained by 5 p.m. 

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. 

The freeway reopened around 5 p.m., but traffic was slow.
