Weapons, Ammo Seized From Home After Student Arrested for Making Threat to Gardena High School

A student was arrested Thursday for allegedly making a criminal threat against Junipero Serra High School in Gardena and a cache of firearms and ammunition were seized at his home.

"Today, another student posted a possible threat on a social media app, and this matter is also being investigated by the Gardena Police Department.

The students involved in the possible threats will not be on campus until the matters are resolved," the principal said in a letter to parents.

Personnel at the school at 14830 Van Ness Ave. contacted police about a threat made on social media, according to the Gardena Police Department.

A school resource officer and detectives went to the student's home and ended up making an arrest on suspicion of making a criminal threat and being a juvenile in possession of a firearm, while seizing what police described as a cache of firearms and ammunition.
