Detectives confirm they have a person of interest in Thursday morning's hit-and-run crash near Loyola Marymount University, according to LAPD Sgt. Stephanie Krajchir.
Police had been searching for the woman who abandoned her vehicle after it struck a jogger near Loyola Marymount Drive and Lincoln Boulevard in Playa Vista.
The victim was hospitalized in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The driver left the scene on foot with her vehicle on the sidewalk after striking a light pole and the pedestrian.
Detectives still need to interview the person of interest, speak to witnesses, and perform forensics tests on the vehicle, Krajchir said.
The car has a shattered windshield on the driver's side and other front-end damage.
A witness who heard the crash stopped to aid the victim, police said.
