Los Angeles police captured a suspected burglar in the Mid-City area Thursday morning after he led them on a more than two-hour manhunt after evading custody by scrambling over a rooftop, authorities said.
The escape was reported around6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and St. Andrews Place, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
He was recaptured just before 9 a.m. as he attempted to enter an apartment.
The unarmed man was being arrested on a felony charge, police said, but ran from officers. He climbed over a rooftop to escape police custody.
Now, in addition to the original charge, the suspected thief faces charges of fleeing officers and attempting to enter a private home.
The man struggled briefly with police during the arrest, according to the watch commander at LAPD's Olympic division.
He was transported to a hospital because of an abrasion, but it's not clear if he sustained that during his attempted escape or during the scuffle at the time he was arrested.
