    Thieves Target Drone Shops

A thief was caught on surveillance video stealing a drone from a Reseda shop. Kate Larsen reports for the NBC4 News at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. (Published Wednesday, July 29, 2015)

A suspect who stole a drone from a hobby store in Reseda Wednesday night was being sought by police.

A surveillance video shows the man walking into E Hobby House around 6:30 p.m. in the 17000 block of Vanowen Street and grabbing a $500 drone from off of a shelf. The suspect walked out of the store and fled before employees could catch him.

"It really was less than 30 seconds," said employee Kenneth Munoz. "So he really did just snatch and grab because by the time we were trying to help him out, he was already gone."

The theft is among a string of recent robberies targeting drone shops in the San Fernando Valley within the past few weeks.

Police said the drone did not have a tracking device. They will be relying on surveillance video and anyone who may provide information about the drone theft.
