Equipment failure led to 6400-customer power outage in Altadena and Pasadena Monday night.
Southern California Edison spokesman Gil Alexander said the lights went out at 5:24 p.m. and that power was restored by 7:30 p.m. in Altadena. At 10 p.m. Alexander said there was no word when power would return to 2200 customers in an area of Pasadena that adjoins Altadena.
The failure was "indirectly associated with high heat and heavy demand. Because all circuits were heavily loaded and we did not have the flexibility to switch customers to different circuits," Alexander added.
