3 in Custody in Compton After Freeway Pursuit From Riverside

Three men were wanted for a home burglary, authorities said

Three burlgary suspects were taken into custody after a freeway  pursuit that began in Riverside County and led to Compton on Tuesday.

Three men wanted in connection with a home burglary bailed out of their silver Dodger after a high-speed chase on the 91 Freeway that ended in a residential neighborhood nor far from Compton Airport.

One man was arrested soon after, then a brief foot pursuit followed for the other two. A second suspect had hid in a recreational vehicle.

Aerial video showed at least two people were taken into custody in in the area of West Bennett Street near South Center Street (map) at about 12:40 p.m.

Officers initially had guns drawn and appeared to be searching for the third suspect in the yard of a home. They later said he had been taken into custody.

Pursuit speeds were in excess of 100 mph during the pursuit, which was occurring during the noon hour.

CHP Officer Mike Harris said the male suspects had fled in a silver Dodge.

The Riverside Police Department, which began the pursuit before CHP took over, said the suspects were wanted for a home burglary in Riverside.
