Police Pursuit Ends With Crash in Glendale

A man driving a vehicle reported stolen led police on a chase Tuesday from Hollywood to Glendale, where he slammed into the back of a parked vehicle and was taken into custody, along with his passenger, authorities said.

The incident began at 1:26 a.m., when officers tried to pull over a white Suburban whose driver was suspected of being intoxicated, said Lt. James Alvarez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station.

The driver refused to stop, he said, adding that as officers were pursuing the Suburban, they learned the vehicle had been reported stolen in Long Beach.

The chase, lasting more than 20 minutes, ended on Mountain Street in Glendale when the Suburban crashed into the back of a parked car, Alvarez said. No injuries were reported.

The two men were taken into custody following the crash, the lieutenant said. Their names were not immediately released.

Alvarez said tests were pending to determine whether the driver was under the influence.
