A man has testified that the son of former Assembly speaker Fabian Nunez admitted stabbing someone during a fight near San Diego State University last October.
John Murray's testimony came Wednesday during a San Diego preliminary hearing for Esteban Nunez, Rafael Garcia, Ryan Jett and Leshanor Thomas.
The four are charged with the murder of college student Luis Santos outside a fraternity party.
Murray testified that Nunez told him he stabbed someone in the shoulder and Jett stabbed someone, too. Murray testified that the confrontation began as a verbal exchange and escalated.
At the conclusion of the preliminary hearing, expected to last several days, a judge will determine if there is enough evidence against the defendants for them to stand trial.
