A 7-Eleven and laundromat were destroyed early Thursday in a fire at a Hollywood strip mall.

The fire in the 1800 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard, just south of Franklin Avenue, was reported at about 2 a.m. The fire burned for almost 90 minutes before flames were extinguished.

No injuries were reported.

Students at the AMDA College of the Performing Arts were evacuated from a dorm near the strip mall.

"We were all panicking," said student Imani Cosby. "We didn't know what to do. Me and two of my roommates evacuated everyone from the room. It was really crazy we didn't know if it was going to burn down our dorm over here."

The dorm is just a few feet from the laundromat. Students returned to their residences later Thursday morning.

"Everything we have is in there," said student Savanah Comer. "There are people who come from all around to come to this school and they bring everything with them."

A 7-Eleven employee was inside the store when a customer said the laundromat next door was on fire. He said he told customers to leave the store as flames got closer.

"There was fire on the ceiling," said clerk Rezaul Karim. "I told customers, please go because... this fire is coming."

Details about how the fire started were not immediately available.

Firefighters prevented flames from spreading to adjacent businesses and other buildings. Guests at a hotel behind the strip mall were asked to shelter in place during the fire.
