Snowfall in mountain and high-elevated areas of SoCal continued into Friday morning, creating potential traffic issues for holiday travelers on Christmas Day.
Along the 5 Freeway near Gorman, also known as the Grapevine, snow blanketed the roads, creating dangerous icy roads. The Big Bear area also experienced snowy conditions affecting roads.
Lower-elevation areas were not expected to receive any snow showers.
The 5 Freeway into Kern County was slick and wet, prompting signs to be posted warning drivers to be cautious traveling no the road.
A wind advisory was also in effect as strong gusts of up to 50 miles per hour were forecast throughout SoCal, which could also affect drivers.
Drivers were advised to wear chains if necessary when traveling on slick roads.
