A 20-year-old Indio, Calif., man with a history of resisting arrest was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of striking an officer in the face and delaying his arrest.
Jose Francisco Gonzalez was arrested around 5 p.m. Wednesday when La Quinta police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Sanita Drive and Arosa Way in La Quinta, said La Quinta police Sgt. David Adams.
The officers found Gonzalez walking toward a vehicle and detained him, Adams said.
The sergeant said that during questioning Gonzalez struck an officer in the face and ran to a nearby neighborhood, where he was captured.
The officer was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
