LA Found in Contempt of Court for Citing Signs

A federal judge has found the city of Los Angeles in contempt of court for issuing citations against an outdoor advertising company in violation of a previous injunction.

U.S. District Court Judge Audrey B. Collins on Monday ordered the city to rescind its citations against World Wide Rush LLC for its massive signs draped across several buildings.

Collins did not dismiss fire code violations issued against World Wide Rush, but ordered fire officials to instruct the company how to comply with safety regulations.

City officials have been trying to halt proliferation of giant advertising signage, but advertising companies sued and won the permanent injunction.

A city attorney's spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment on the ruling.
