Los Angeles is considering a plan to reduce the risk of potentially devastating brush fires at homeless encampments. The proposal, if approved, would go into effect in certain designated zones and on days when the fire danger is high.

A proposed ordinance that would give law enforcement the authority to order homeless people out of encampments located in brush areas on high-risk fire days is being considered Wednesday by the Los Angeles City Council. Here are the details, including when and where the plan would be deployed.
