Two Suspects at Large After Montebello Sears Robbed at Gunpoint

Police received several calls at 8:51 p.m. from patrons inside the store that the robbery was in progress

Two gunmen robbed about $16,000 from a Sears store at the Montebello Town Center Monday night, police said.

The suspects also took money from a female shopper, said Montebello Police Department Lt. Michael Bergman. The woman was accompanied by a young child, a witness told a news cameraman at the scene.

Police received several calls at 8:51 p.m. from patrons inside the store that the robbery was in progress, Bergman said.

The suspects, both armed with handguns, were described 18 to 25 years old, wearing hoodies with bandanas covering their faces, said Bergman.

They escaped in a waiting dark-colored sport utility vehicle or truck last seen headed southbound on Montebello Boulevard, Bergman said.

No injuries were reported.
