A gunman suspected of opening fire on two off-duty Los Angeles police officers in Norwalk was taken into custody early Sunday morning, officials said.
Two off-duty LAPD officers were making a u-turn at the intersection of Ferin Avenue and Crossdale after their shift when a man stepped out of a house and fired shots at the officers' car, according to the Los Angele County Sheriff's Department. The officers then flagged down LASD deputies around 12:30 a.m.
The officers were not struck by the gunfire and the shooter ran back inside the home.
Residents from the home were evacuated as deputies took the suspected shooter into custody, LASD said.
No injuries were reported. The weapon has not yet been recovered.
Circumstances leading up to the shooting were unknown and an investigation continued.
