Los Angeles police fatally shot a possibly mentally ill man Thursday.

The officer-involved shooting occurred about 12:30 p.m. in the 8300 block of Burnet Avenue, near Roscoe Boulevard, said Officer April Harding of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man, in his 20s, was taken to a hospital where he died at 4:10 p.m., Harding said.
