A principal arrested on suspicion of a lewd act with a child will not faces charges, according to the district attorney's office.
Daniel Weston, 47, was arrested in connection with the 2008 case involving a student at the Seventh-Day Adventist Elementary School in Whittier. Weston, now principal at the Seventh Day Adventist Church School in West Covina, was arrested Wednesday by Whittier police and held on $100,000 bond.
Authorities citied insufficient evidence to file charges in the case.
Weston was principal at the Whittier school for seven years.
"We're grateful that we're moving along in the process," said school director Bob Dennis. "Our thoughts are with Mr. Weston and the alleged victim."
