Two Firefighters Injured Battling House Fires

The blaze was reported just before noon in Laguna Hills

Two firefighters were injured Monday while battling a three-alarm residential blaze that heavily damaged two homes in Laguna Hills and displaced eight adults and seven children.

The fire was reported about 11:30 a.m. in the 22600 block of Napoli Lane and took about an hour to knock down, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.

One of about 80 firefighters sent to the scene sustained second-degree burns to his right hand.

"He was trying to move stuff out of the way and it burned through his glove," Concialdi said.

The other was treated for heat exhaustion, he said.

Both homes sustained "heavy damage," with one "almost a total loss," Concialdi said.

There was no immediate word on what caused the fire.
