Man Hit Nine Times in Pomona Shooting, Bullets Miss Three Children

A man in his 40s was hospitalized Thursday night with nine gunshot wounds suffered in a shooting in Pomona and three children playing video games nearby narrowly missed being struck by bullets.

Officers responded to calls of a shooting in the 1600 block of South Palomares Street about 9:10 p.m. and located the victim, who was conscious and able to tell officers what happened, despite having been shot nine times, according to the Pomona Police Department. The victim was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.

A preliminary investigation determined three suspects also shot into a home where three children were playing video games in the front room of the home. The bullets narrowly missed the children and struck a wall just above where they were sitting, police said. Two other people who were also in the home were not hit.

A detailed description of the suspects was not immediately available.
