2 Men Found Shot Dead in Pomona

The men suffered "several" gunshot wounds, police said.

Two men were found dead Sunday in Pomona, and one suspect was arrested.

Christopher Peterson, 40, of Ontario was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the shooting death of Robert Salinas, 37, of Pomona, and another man, whose name has yet to be released, said Pomona police Sgt. Brian Hagerty.

Officers were dispatched a little after 4:30 a.m., in response to a shooting in the 100 block of East Second Street, and found the men shot and badly wounded.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Shortly after the homicides, Pomona police received a call from Ontario police that they had information that a man there had reportedly been involved in a shooting in Pomona, he said.

Pomona and Ontario police went to the 1000 block of Berkeley Court in Ontario, where they detained Peterson, he said.

"Homicide detectives investigation revealed sufficient evidence to book the suspect for two counts of murder," Hagerty said. "The investigation is still going on."

Pomona police asked anyone with any information regarding the shooting deaths to call them at 909-620-2085.
