Mosque Volunteer Faces New Sex Assault Charges After Victim Comes Forward

The man was accused of luring victims as a volunteer at the Indo Chinese Islamic Center in Santa Ana.

A former mosque volunteer faced new sexual assault charges Tuesday after a 7-year-old girl saw media reports and came forward, according to the Orange County District Attorney.

Ahmad Henry Osman, 54, of Tustin was to be charged with felony counts of performing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14, and oral copulation with a child 10 years or younger.

Osman was accused of luring victims as a volunteer at the Indo Chinese Islamic Center in Santa Ana.

The media coverage of the original charges is what convinced the 7-year-old and her family to come forward.

The 7-year-old reported that two assaults occurred between Nov. 19, 2007 and Feb. 25, 2015. Osman was accused of oral copulation and touching the victim’s vagina at the Islamic center.

Osman was accused of going to the home of the first and second victim in February of 2015 where he allegedly lured the 9-year-old into a room and performed lewd acts on her.

At a later time, he was accused of performing lewd acts on the 6-year-old victim.

The first victim reported the assault to her family and Santa Ana police began investigating the next day.

As police investigated, they discovered it wasn’t the first time Osman had allegedly assaulted the girls.

In March of 2015, the third victim saw media reports of Osman’s arrest, and her family contacted police.

Osman was being held on $1 million bail, and faces a maximum sentence of 105 years in prison if convicted.

Osman was a part of the Islamic Center for more than 20 years, police said.
