Pope Urges Proselytizers: “Let Jesus Be Known”

Pope Francis spoke English publicly for the first time in his capacity as leader of the world's more than 1 billion Catholics when he welcomed participants to an evangelization conference in the Philippines. Addressing his "brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ" in the video message, Francis urged them to keep pursuing God's work. "Do not get tired of bringing the mercy of the Father to the poor, the sick, the abandoned, the young people and families," he said. "Let the Holy Spirit renew creation and bring forth justice and peace in the Philippines and in the great continent of Asia that is close to my heart." The Argentine-born pope is fluent in both Spanish and Italian, and he speaks some Latin, French and Portuguese as well. Click through to see Pope Francis deliver his message.
