Two lucky turkeys have escaped what is probably their least favorite holiday tradition. President Obama pardoned the birds during a pre-Thanksgiving ceremony at the White House Wednesday, naming the two Liberty and Peace. "Tomorrow is one of the best days of the year to be an American ... But it's also one of the worst days of the year be a turkey," the president said, according to The White House blog. "Some of you may know that recently I've been taking a series of executive actions that don't require Congressional approval. Well, here's another one. We can't wait to pardon these turkeys. Literally. Otherwise they'd end up next to the mashed potatoes and stuffing."
