Pasadena Police Searching for Would-Be Kidnapper, Fought Off by Victim

A woman punched her would-be kidnapper in the groin and face, fending him off after he drove up next to her in Pasadena Friday night, police said.

The Pasadena Police Department were seeking help identifying the man who allegedly attacked the woman just after 10 p.m. on Marengo Avenue at Penn Street.

The man attempted to speak with the woman from his vehicle, either a gray Honda CRV or something similar, police said in a statement. When the woman ignored him, he stopped the vehicle and got out, then tried to force her inside.

While the woman was at one point forced into the front passenger seat of the vehicle, she managed to escape, hitting him in the face and groin in the process, police said.

The attack left neighbors nervous -- the man drove away and has not been caught, police said.

"He's on the prowl, he's hunting for people walking alone," Pasadena resident Gwendolyn Hall said. "He's too bold and too dangerous."

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 626-744-4241.
