"Star Wars"-themed lands will soon be joining Disney theme parks in Orlando, Florida, and Anaheim, California, Disney officials announced Saturday.
The world of "Star Wars" will come to life with attractions that include the ability to operate the Millenium Falcon and allow guests to be in the middle of a space battle, Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced at the Disney D23 Fan Expo 2015.
“We are creating a jaw-dropping new world," Iger said. "These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”
Disney will also be adding the interactive Star Wars Launch Bay and introducing a new seasonal event, Season of the Force, which will update Space Mountain to become Hyperspace Mountain where guests will participate in an X-Wing battle.
The 14-acre attractions will be the largest single-themed land expansions Disney has ever created.
