Thousands of customers were without power Thursday morning when a large tree took down utility poles and lines in the Silver Lake area.

The tree fell across Griffith Park Boulevard near Lyric Avenue.

About 2,300 customers were without power, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Power was restored before midday, according to the agency's web site.

Aerial video showed a utility pole that was sheared in half.

Nearby streets were closed as crews responded to the location. Crew will likely continue tree removal into Thursday afternoon.
