Two Irvine Police Officers Injured After Patrol Car is Rear-Ended

Two Irvine police officers were hospitalized after their patrol car was rear-ended in a crash Tuesday night, police said.

The officers, who had investigated another crash near Irvine Center and Culver drives, were sitting in their SUV with its emergency lights on when a woman in a four-door car crashed into the patrol car, officials with the Irvine Police Department said.

The officers were rushed to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Several police officers arrived to the hospital to check on their fellow officers.

The extent of the woman's injuries was not immediately known.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the cause of the crash.
