Too many things are one thing too few. You go out, you spend your dollars, and you get a single flavor or topic or theme.
That's fine. But we look to the Natural History Museum, which throws a bundle of interesting bits into its First Fridays program, to have several things going at once. The next First Friday is up on Friday, April 2. The roster includes an earthquake discussion with Dr. Tanya Atwater, music from Breakestra and Fitz and the Tantrums, and late-into-the-evening DJing from Cosmic Kids and Them Jeans.
And, of course, the museum. All of those much-photographed dioramas, the giant pachyderms, the savannas, the bobcats snarling on mountaintops. We want to type "meerkats" here, because we think there might be meerkats, too. So. The meerkats.
In short, First Fridays has a lot of learning and looking and Friday-style rocking out, which can be tough to find all on one bill. We say don't miss it. Also, the meerkats.
Getting into the museums and concerts is $15; see more info on tickets. 5:30-10:30 p.m.
