LA-based designer Jeffrey Sebelia (Project Runway's season three winner) is launching contemporary line Good Vig for holiday, which will retail for about half the cost of his Cosa Nostra collection. WWD reports this is Sebelia's second swing at the young contemporary market: "In October 2007, he launched a namesake young contemporary line that lasted only one season due to disagreements with a former manufacturing partner." Sebelia told the pub: "Aside from price point, Good Vig is just prettier...It’s a lot softer. It’s not as dark. It’s actually what I’ve wanted to do for years.”
The result is described as "minimalist," in cotton, silk and rayon with a ample use of pleats, subtle embellishments, and colorblocking in red and blue for holiday and baby blue and pink for spring. Tops are wholesaling for $50-$110; pants for $65-$100; blazers for $90; and dresses for $80-$220. Local retailers who have picked up the line include Ron Herman and BNY in Santa Monica. The trade notes that Sebelia will focus selling Cosa Nostra mostly in Japan and to private clients.
