2/23: Mariah Carey

The Angels Advocate alights at Gibson.

MARIAH CAREY: She's been much praised for her turn as the cautious but caring social worker in "Precious" (see it; so very praiseworthy indeed); now the singer/actress is sashaying into Gibson Amphitheatre for a two-night set starting tonight. "Up Out My Face" is everywhere; have you seen the video?

A VERY SPECIAL EPISODE NIGHT: If you've ever seen a few episodes of a classic '80s or '90s sitcom, you've seen the Very Special Episode (caps required). Some problem is introduced, the melodrama soars, one character puts a comforting hand on another character's shoulder. And curtains. The Cinefamily is saluting six of those hankie-huggies tonight at 8PM.

DOUG BENSON'S I LOVE MOVIES: Would the week before Oscar week be an excellent time to head over to the Upright Citizens Brigade for a show -- let us add a *free* show -- about loving on the filmdom? It would be. It's at 7:30PM.
