As "Dancing With the Stars" hits its the semi-finals Monday night, the cry against the number of alleged ringers on the reality show has never been louder.
The show is supposed to be about learning how to dance…in front of a national television audience. But as the program has taken off through the years, the previously amateur dance floor has been taken over by savvy professionals who can literally waltz in and score serious numbers without trying.
So where does Stacy Keibler -- dubbed the "weapon of mass seduction" on "DWTS" season three where she earned third place -- draw the line on this debate?
"It's one thing if you have dance in your life, but it's another thing if you're actually making money currently as a professional dancer," Keibler told PopcornBiz at StepUp Women's Network 7th Annual Inspiration Awards on Friday.
Are you listening Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger?
"The show is supposed to be about about growth," says Keibler. "It's been fun to watch but boring at the same time."
Agreed. Scherzinger is a vision to watch on stage. But it's like watching Kobe Bryant playing in a YMCA Basketball League. You could even argue that the Olympic ice champion, Evan Lysacek, has an unfair advantage as well. But at least it's not a skating competition.
But that said, Keibler wasn't enamored of previous "DWTS" diva Kate Gosselin, who was truly the ultimate amateur on the show. It's especially odd since Gosselin was dancing with Keibler's former partner Tony Dovolani.
"I always want to see Tony do well," says Keibler. "But I wasn't voting for her."
