Apple.com Hacked after Event?

After the announcement of the iPhone 4S, Apple's website seemed to be having issues.

If you're on apple.com trying to look up all the new info you may have missed during the live event today, you might have noticed the site is going up and down more than a two dollar.... oil rig.

TechCrunch reports a source close the matter says the site may have been hacked. The "Access Denied" message has even started trending on Twitter.

A Whois lookup of the website shows some other strange information indicating the site was indeed hacked or possibly being attacked by DNS spammers.

UPDATE: Gizmodo says the site was not hacked, and there is a simple explanation for the weird whois information.  At any rate, the site seems to be back under control of Apple.
