READY FOR YOU: Just in time for a long summer weekend getaway, the Angeles National Forest has reopened 98,000 acres that burned in the Station Fire northeast of Los Angeles - thanks to the work of Forest Service crews and volunteers who have been planting trees and restoring trails since the fire in 2009.

GET PACKIN’: This isn’t just good news for campers but hikers as well. More than 100 miles of hiking trails will reopen including Indian Canyon Trailhead, Bear Canyon Trail, Paul Silver Moccasin Trail, Nature’s Canteen Trail and Sunset Ridge Trail.

PACIFIC CREST TRAIL: If you’ve been waiting to tackle the Pacific Crest Trail (or at least a portion of it) now is the time as the section that runs through the forest is open again with a few minor detours.
