Concerts on Deck for Dodger Stadium

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reached a deal with an entertainment company formed by businessman Tim Leiweke and music industry titan Irving Azoff to bring more big-name music concerts to Dodger Stadium.

The deal was reported Monday by the Los Angeles Times.

Dodger Stadium has hosted many concerts going back to the 1960s by such legendary acts as the Beatles, Elton John, the Bee Gees, the Rolling Stones, U2, AC/DC and others. The new deal would result in those kind of big events happening more frequently, up to a handful per year.

According to the Times report, Oak View Group hopes to book two to three shows at Dodger Stadium this year, and expand from there.

Representatives of the recently formed venture, Oak View Entertainment, downplayed concerns about traffic and the possible effect on the condition of the field, pointing out that it hasn't been a major problem when concerts have been held there in the past.
