The popular, eveningtime walk will return to the La Cañada Flintridge spread on Nov. 19, 2017.

Locating luminosity in the natural world?

It's not too difficult, if you know where to go to find flickery fireflies, and bioluminescent algae, and the perfect hillside to see the perfect full moon (pro tip: a shimmering lake below can double the glow).

But finding a stand of tall trees flush with rich, colorful red, green, and blue lights isn't something that will happen on your next walk in the woods, most likely. It will, however, definitely occur if you plan a ramble through the oak-filled bosque at Descanso Gardens this holiday season.

For Enchanted: Forest of Light, the seasonal, mid-November-to-early-January event, will once again lend a mysterious and magnificent incandescence to the La Cañada Flintridge spread's many trees, plants, and open spaces.

The nature destination, which includes a celebrated camellia forest, the historic Boddy House, and the Enchanted Railroad, announced the popular event's 2017 return on Wednesday, Aug. 16.

The eveningtime happening, which debuted at Descanso Gardens in 2016, will open on Sunday, Nov. 19 and run through Sunday, Jan. 7.

Member tickets? They'll be available on Oct. 2, while Oct. 16 is listed as the general public on-sale date.

Where will that ticket take you, exactly, once you begin the one-mile, bundle-up walk? You may saunter by a glimmering plot of lit-from-within tulips. You may spy an elegant and large chandelier hanging high, high up in stately oak.

And coming across a twinkly branch or limb? Highly likely.

Pillars that pop with various vivacious hues, lights that seem to dance along tree trunks, and starry lamps dangling overhead further the fantasy feel of this whimsical walk in the woods.

No, Christmas isn't here yet, nor is Thanksgiving, but asking your kin and crew if they'd like to do Descanso Gardens this season, for the second time (or the first), is probably a wise move over the next few weeks, ahead of the ticket on-sale dates.
