Happy 100th, National Park Service: The Ponderosa pines won't be wearing paper party hats upon their highest boughs, and Half Dome will not be covered in streamers. But national parks and monuments throughout the nation will honor the National Park Service's centennial in multiple and merry ways from Thursday, Aug. 25 through Sunday, Aug. 28. One major happening? Admission is waived at all fee-charging parks for those dates (that includes Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Death Valley, Lassen Volcanic...).

FYF Fest: Exposition Park is the scene for one of Southern California's largest music festivals, a sound-packed two-dayer that brims with major names (Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, Grace Jones, LCD Soundsystem) and a caboodle of acts-o'-tomorrow, those buzzed-about artists primed to headline a soon-to-happen festival. Eye all that you can show with, who is playing when, and the must-knows for this Aug. 27 and 28 tune-stravaganza.

Beatles at Dodger Stadium: If you were in Elysian Park on Aug. 28, 1966, there was a good chance you were experiencing the Fab Four in concert. The Dodgers and fans will come together to remember this historic show, one of the group's final public performances, on Friday, Aug. 26 with tribute tunes, fireworks, and more. But do you have your mop top trimmed? Best ready your Beatles-loving look for a memory-nice night at the stadium.

Bon Voyage Summer Weekend: So you spent a few warm-weather nights around Downtown Santa Monica, taking in the scene, the music, the movies, and the everything-ness? Third Street Promenade is prepared to do it up as August ends with a screening of "Jaws" (just a short walk from the beach) and a DJ set from Sonic Submarine. The shark swims on Friday, Aug. 26 while the spin flows shimmer on Saturday, Aug. 27.

Laguna Art-A-Fair Customer Appreciation Weekend: The mondo art-themed alfresco festivals are taking their final bows just about now, but it isn't quite time to bid the warmest season goodbye just yet. This venerable and big-of-size art extravaganza is thanking its fans by ditching admission for its final two days of 2016. Want to stroll and see works by some 125 artists? Leg it to Laguna Beach on Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28.
