It's a story that played out in Honolulu, but is now getting plenty of attention in the Bay Area after an off-duty Pinole police officer turned hero after he stopped an attack on a TSA agent by a homeless woman while wearing socks in the airport.

Justin Rogers - a corporal with the police department - was simply trying to get through the security line Saturday at the Honolulu International Airport. He was on his way home from a Hawaiian vacation when he noticed a TSA agent getting attacked by a woman, who began punching the female agent.

Rogers is caught on camera hurdling the glass barrier and taking the alleged attacker down - wearing only socks. That's because he had taken off his shoes to get through the TSA security line. After the take-down, Rogers waves to the onlookers - all captured on security video - to show everyone that "he's got this."

The 39-year-old is now speaking humbly about his actions.

"Police officer or not, the woman was being assaulted," he said. "She was defenseless. Had her arms up, trying to defend herself and somebody really needed to help her and luckily I was close enough to be able to help."

As for the alleged attacker, authorities say she is homeless and was charged with assault. The TSA agent suffered minor bruising, and the TSA issued a statement expressing the agency's gratitude toward Rogers.
